Welcome
The Harold Road congregation was settled in 1976 by members of the old Upton Manor congregation which had closed several years earlier. As they met for Sunday worship in a Methodist Church building situated in Harold Road, E13, the congregation was named “Harold Road”.
In 2004 the congregation relocated, and now meets for worship at the Hibiscus Community Centre, Buckingham Road, London E15 1SP, but there was a strong feeling that the name of the congregation should not change.
The congregation has a simple mission statement:
The “THREE W’s”:
WORSHIP - We are here to praise God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
WITNESS - Our calling as Christians is to proclaim to the world the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to show people God’s love shown to us in Jesus Christ, and how acceptance of that can change lives.
WELCOME - We must be seen as part of the community in which we are situated, sharing concerns and meeting needs, and welcoming others into our midst. If you visit “Harold Road” to join with the regulars on a Sunday morning, you are guaranteed lively worship, sincere witness, and a very warm welcome!
Fairtrade
The congregation is registered with the Fairtrade Foundation as a Fairtrade church, and is firmly committed to the three goals of using Fairtrade tea and coffee after services and in all our meetings; moving forward on using other Fairtrade products such as sugar, biscuits and fruit; and promotes Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and whenever possible.
