(Exodus 18. 13-27; Acts 9. 10-19a)

The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it. Genesis 2. 15

They who tread the path of labour
Follow where my feet have trod;
They who work without complaining,
Do the holy will of God. 273. 1a

The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose, and each will receive wages according to the labour of each. 1 Corinthians 3. 8

Whose eyes mine inmost substance see,
And labour on at thy command,
And offer all my works to thee.

Whate’er thy bounteous grace hath given,
And run my course with even joy,
And closely walk with thee to heaven 612. 3, 5
