Horton, Yorkshire - July 2026

The nights are lighter and the days longer and the sun has made a short brief appearance; this must be summer! We continue with our regular services, bible study, social events and meetings but in the last month we have held and celebrated two very important traditions at Horton. The first was our annual ‘Gift Day’, where we celebrate together all the gifts we are able to contribute – our time for and with God and each other, our various skills, our support for those in need and our monetary gifts both personal and from all the various groups in Church. A wonderful sum of money was raised leading up to and on the day and after the service we all shared refreshments provided by the Church committee.

Our second annual ‘tradition’ was Sisters Festival organised and led by Sr Brenda Hirst with our guest speaker Rev Hannah Raitt from St Matthews Church with the focus of the service on ‘Strong Women in the Bible’. It was a wonderful service and a lovely time of fellowship afterwards when we all shared lunch together.
