Horton, Yorkshire - Nov 2025

Summer is now behind us, and the leaves are turning on the trees. This week in church we will be celebrating our ‘Harvest Festival’, with our donations being offered to the local food bank. Harvest includes weather and here in Yorkshire, due to the very dry year so far, we were the first county to have water restrictions imposed and this will continue despite the recent wet weather so that the reservoirs are replenished.

Sr Claire Maxwell led another excellent ‘Family Focused Service’ on the story of Creation. The story was told with the aid of picture boards depicting the seven days of creation. Children and adults alike enjoyed listening to the story followed by a discussion about the individual days and then we all took part in a variety of activities related to the story, including building a boat from cardboard!

We are already looking towards Christmas as we are holding a Christmas Tree Festival over the weekend of 21st-23rd November. Sr Claire is in contact with schools and businesses and we hope to involve the local community as well as friends and family. If you are in the area and would like more information please do get in touch, it would be lovely to welcome you to Horton.
