Ockbrook, Derbyshire - Nov 2025

Derby City Mission is close to the heart of our Church here in Ockbrook, and we collect regular donations of food and toiletries and a couple of us volunteer on a regular basis in the City Based Cafe.

It was therefore with great pleasure that we welcomed Terry Langley who joined the team at Derby City Mission 2022, supporting those who are struggling with life challenges. He is always keen to get stuck in, serving the people of Derby in the night-time economy.

His talk was based on reaching out into communities in the name of Jesus Christ, which tied in nicely with our own Church NCD Mission of trying to reach our local community and get them involved with our Church and our Lord Jesus Christ in the name of Love. He gave every member of the congregation a pebble to hold and feel it, get warm and liken it to the feeling of Jesus in our lives, and not to be afraid to have a conversation with friends or strangers of the importance of Christ in our lives, and even pass on our pebble to that person so they might remember and take strength from the message. It was a thought provoking and inspirational talk. Terry was very honest and clear in what he said, and we hope he will honour us again sometime in the future.

Last Saturday, 5th October, Ockbrook Moravian Church held an Italian evening, serving a delicious selection of Italian food. Gail and Kathy cooked the food, and Greg organised the music and Ouiz. We served 58 people, and many came back for seconds, especially the desserts. It was a fun evening full of laughter and wonderful fellowship. We were so blessed by the support of the congregation and friends of the church and raised £979.
