Here in Lower Wyke, when 13th September dawned, the Heritage exhibition was prepared and so were the activities for the Family Fun Day. For the last few years, we have discovered that running the two events side by side has proved successful as visitors flow between one and the other.
We have enjoyed a fairly busy year so far. In additional to our normal of services and meetings, we held a quiz night in March, which was well attended, and I think enjoyed by all (well most). At our Church Anniversary in April, we welcomed Br Bob Hopcroft to lead the worship – it was good to see Bob and Wendy back with us.
With trees and flowers blossoming around the village and warm weather lingering into the evening, spring and summer in Gracehill were vibrant seasons, alive with family, all-age and wider community activities. Our Girls’ and Boys’ Brigade displays were well-attended and thoroughly enjoyed by extended families and friends.
Derby City Mission is close to the heart of our Church here in Ockbrook, and we collect regular donations of food and toiletries and a couple of us volunteer on a regular basis in the City Based Cafe. It was therefore with great pleasure that we welcomed Terry Langley who joined the team at Derby City Mission 2022, supporting those who are struggling with life challenges.
