British Mission Board
The British Mission Board is composed primarily of the members of the Provincial Board. Jane Carter is Chair of the British Mission Board, but it remains a collegiate body, with all decisions being the responsibility of the Board as a whole. The Board has within its remit the opportunity to co-opt new members to the BMB who may have specific skills or experience to bear on the aims and projects.
The Unity Synod has entrusted oversight of the work of the Moravian Church in South Asia to the Mission Board and South Asia was granted Mission Province status by the Unity Synod of 2023. The Mission Board has a close relationship with the Western Province of Tanzania as agreed by the Unity Mission Agencies. Support for both these regions takes the form of specific project support, ministry support and administrative grants.
Funding for the activities supported by the BMB is provided by two generous longstanding endowments, alongside kind and generous donations from individuals and committed supportive groups such as the MWA and the YPMA. This funding is carefully managed by the BMB to best support the work in South Asia and Western Tanzania.
In addition the British Province, through the British Mission Board, continues to have close links with and give support to the Elim Home, Star Mountain and Sikonge Hospital. This support is directed through the Unity Mission Agencies who have been entrusted with that responsibility by the Unity Synod.
